Optional Activity - Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission
While we recognize we are all "over the moon for transit" and the opportunity to gather in Pittsburgh and network with our colleagues as part of the Fall Conference, the Heinz History Center will also be "over the moon" as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon while we are in town by hosting Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission. If you are arriving on Monday or Tuesday, PPTA has arranged for interested attendees to visit the Destination Moon exhibit at the Heinz History Center. Tickets are $25 per person, and conference attendees will have the ability to pay this on-site when checking in. If you are interested in this optional activity, you must stop by the registration table by 6:00 PM on Tuesday to purchase your ticket in advance.

"Securing the Future” Plenary Session & TSA Tabletop Exercise
TSA will conduct a tabletop exercise focused on public transit agencies designed to discuss an agency's ability to prevent, mitigate, respond, and recover from various terrorism-based and disruptive scenarios. The audience will be divided up by areas of interest/focus to participate in this interactive exercise; some areas of concentration for the exercise include operations, HR, dispatch, customer service, executive management, finance, media and communications, and safety/security. Participants will gain lessons learned and best practices relatable to their agency. This is a no-consequence learning environment and a great opportunity to share experiences and evaluate your agency's current security posture and level of preparedness.

Safety & Security: IED Demo & Classroom Training
Limited to 30 participants

Participants will receive classroom training followed by a live bomb range demonstration. This training and live demonstration is designed to increase public- and private-sector awareness of homemade explosives (HME), a common terrorist improvised explosive device (IED) tactic. IED & Explosive Effects helps participants more easily identify relevant HME precursor chemicals and other critical IED components of concern, such as electronics, and recognize suspicious behavior that could indicate bomb‐making activity. Classroom training will occur onsite at the PPTA conference with transportation to the bomb range for the live demonstration part. Participants must attend the classroom section in order to attend the live demo. (Note: Participants must be prepared for all weather conditions, may want to wear boots, have ear plugs, etc. and may be able to take pictures and/or video).
Certificates of attendance will be provided to those attending this segment.
This activity is for public transit agency members only. This is a unique opportunity and not intended for business members. Attendance is limited to 30 participants on a space available basis. To request a seat, email sara@ppta.net. As is the norm for our association, attendees must be registered for the conference to participate in this TSA session.

Accordingly, on-site registration will not be an option for this event and we must consider registration now completely closed. If you have yet to register, we regret that we will miss you at the Fall Conference, but we'll hope to see you at our 2019 Spring Conference this coming April in Lancaster.
