Mark, It is in the Amerex manual that the discharge solenoid is to be replaced about every 6 years as part of the maintenance service. Our first vehicles with the Amerex system are 2003 New Flyers. In 2009 we had 2 of these units discharge sitting still with engine not running. As we researched for system information, we found the service info for this valve to be replaced is 6 years. Mark Gambacini is the best resource for information about getting the bottle refilled and serviced. I noticed Carl sent Mark's contact info..
Regards, Dan

Yes. We had issues with the E450s going off here in the parking lot. If you have done any maintenance on the engine and the wires were re routed, or of the wires were routed too close to the turbo to begin with, you will have problems. There was a bus builder who was actually installing the detection wires too close to the turbo and it was causing the system to discharge. The minimum distance from the turbo is 12 inches if I remember correctly. If you contact Franco Paganuzzi the Eastern Region Manager, he can help you out. His office number is 610-325-4570.
