RRTA has been using REI since 2003. We did experience some problems at first, however REI did send a crew in to update all the DVR's. Since then we still experience some hard drive failure and also some quad processor failures. The technical support is great, but I feel we have more than the normal failures. We did install their new upgraded system in some shared ride vans and have not experienced any problems to date.
We do have a higher failure rate with the units in the Optima bus I think because of where it is mounted. To much heat and dust. The location in the Gillig is less prone to failures.
Overall we have been happy with REI. It is a simple easy to use system. I believe hard drive capacity is up to 200GB. With low resolution that provides about 2 weeks of recording before it will record over.
Hope that helps,

Steve

Dan,
RVT uses Safety Vision. We had issues mainly with our OPTIMAS, hard drive failures. We have updated the equipment, but still have some issues with their equipment in our fleet.

We have Safety Vision. Had issues at first, they seem to have fixed them. Tech people were very good, but at that time the OFFICE and tech were not on the same page.We monitor our cameras, use a laptop to check configurations, viewing of cameras, make sure no of changed. We are going to put 3 cameras and a roadrecorder on-1 1976 GMC,1 2000 GLF and 1 1993 ORION bus that we use for tripper service to see how they will work. www.safetyvision.com

What I am looking for is information about your in-vehicle surveillance system. Which brand name do you have? Your pros and cons with the system. How reliable and dependable is the system. How is the quality of the tech support assistance. I would like to compare your comments with the system that we are using.
Sincerely, Dan
