Bernie, Our mechanics access their own parts directly from the storeroom. Their work order is bar-coded and so are the parts. The mechanic uses a bar-code scanner to remove the parts from inventory and these parts are put against the work order automatically. I do have a parts clerk who is responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of parts, generating POs, placing orders and receiving material. |

looking to other shops on procedure's on how your mechanic's get their parts, how parts are assigned to repair orders, do you have a parts clerk just to handle parts. thanks in advance for any and help or suggestions |
