Yes all cutaway vehicles exit on the drivers side, but DOT is measuring the distance that the exhaust pipe exits in relation to the rear of the vehicle body not the distance from the bumper see attached. We had new buses written up.

I seem to recall discussing this in detail at one of the spec meetings. This is the way it's worded in the contract: "The exhaust shall exit on the driver’s side of each vehicle behind the rear wheels within 6” of rear bumper." It is a little vague as to which side of the bumper the exhaust is located at, but what maufacturer would extend it beyond the rear bumper? | |||

Carl, All of the LANta vans exhaust pipes exit on the left side before the bumper. the same as Red Rose's. Randy | |||

Has anyone had their cutaways inspected by DOT? Ours were inspected and they are writing up the exhaust the way it comes from the factory. It is supposed to exit 6 inches from the rear of the body not the rear of the bumper.We will need to address this in the spec....Carl |
