Question to those of you that lease tires- Do you know what your annual tire mile rate is? We are going from .005379 to .005594 on our 12R22.5 tires in our first year extension w/Firestone. We need this information for our PA review request!! Please send info.

We do a comparison based on the tire price included in the lease proposal. That is usually a very high price per tire versus what you could buy off the state contract. Our conclusion has always been that it is more cost affective to lease versus buy. However that gap has been narrowing the past two contracts. Besides price, it is much more convenient to lease due to the amount of tires that you can keep in inventory. Having to buy that amount of tires would take a huge chunk of money out of your operating budget, even if you are reimbursed from the capital side from preventative maintenance funds. You would use up those funds much faster.

Does anyone have a cost benefit analysis or cost estimate of leasing vs. buying tires?

Thanks.
