We at BCTA just finished the install phase of an avl system from Mentor Engineering. I don't know a whole lot about these systems but I was not impressed with the installation of the system as the operations side uses it seems to be good but they still are having some problems integrating there system with the Twin Vision head signs. During there last on site they attempted to connect the system to a head sign and actually fried a part of the circuit board. They still haven't even begun to figure out how to integrate the Fare box. We have yet to fully accept the system and we find out that Trapeze just purchased Mentor, we are not sure what is going to shake out of the whole situation. | ||

Dan, we like Gary have the Avail system with GPS, annunciaters, sunrise signs, passenger counters and trip info including replay with dispatch on our desktops. Some minor problems at the beginning as to be expected but has been working great. We have it a a about a year and a half now. System ties into head signs and fare boxes. | ||

Dan, everything is with Avail, GPS,APC,Vector,Sunrise sign inside, McKenzie annunciator,radio all tied to CommandPoint at Dispatch and my computer monitor. We have had it for a while so I think there should be some upgrade that is better than what we have, just a guess on that. | ||

Who has AVL System on your fixed route buses? What model and who is the MFG. How does it work? Would you recommend it to others? Is it current technology? Can it be tied into a passenger information system? Help is appreciated. Thank you, Dan |
