Steve, We have the Motorola CDM 1250. Your communication vendor should be able to program their software to give you what you want. Some of our radios were open mic when they were installed on fixed route and Radio Maintenance changed them. We have had several issues with "open mic", "closed mic",and "data channel". This is how I know that they can change the software program in a laptop and reprogram each radio to our needs by vehicle.

Steve, We have a Motorola Radius M1225 in 9 GMC buses which are open mic. All regular route buses have a Motorola CDM 750 in them which is like Dans radios, DATA and voice that is just between dispatch/maintenance and the bus but it can also be put into radio fallback incase the DATA system goes down.

Steve, We have installed the digital radios. We have also moved over to the "narrow band". We have 3 channels programmed. We have each fixed route vehicle private to dispatch. Our paratransit VOICE channel is "open mic". We also have a DATA channel in the paratransit vans. Our service vehicles can hear all conversations on each voice channel they are listening to. You must select the channel that you want to hear.(fixed or para) RMI Radio Maintenance of Reading performed all of our programming. 610-898-1211 Let me know if you need more info, hope this helps.
Regards, Dan

We recently installed new Motorola digital radio's in all the buses. Going from analog to digital has caused some problems. I'm curios how other properties have their radio's setup. We have private conversations between each bus instead of having all the buses hear every conversaton. Is that how everyone has their radio's setup?
With the old analog system, our service and supervisor vehicles could hear all conversations, but with the digital system that is not possible.

Thanks,
Steve
