Dan, CAT has a STAR Model 53-DS Transfermatic brake lathe. The unique thing about this lathe is that it cuts your drums and the lining at the same time. This gives you a proper match between the arc on the drum and on the lining. Consequently we stock standard and oversize lining only. It is probably the most expensive one out there but it is built like a tank, in 1996 we payed $46,000. The only thing I don't like is you are locked in to buying their cutting tools. The machine has never failed, we have been completely satisfied with the reliability and performance of this lathe. |

Dan, RRTA uses an AMMCO model 5000. We have had it for probably 30 years and we have not had any problems with it. |

Dan, RVT has an AMMCO model 6000. It has been here 30 years. Other than replacing the printed circuit boards twice it has been trouble free. Denny |

We are looking to replace our heavy duty brake drum lathe. Are there any recommendations or suggestions? What model do you have in your shop. |
