WE HAVE USED DUKANE FOR 2 YEARS.THEY HAVE DONE A FINE JOB. OUR 2000 GILLIG STARTED TO FAIL IN 2009. THEY ARE RUSTING FROM THE OUTSIDE. DUKANE OIL COOLER IS BETTER DESIGN AND POWDER COATED.

Steve,
As you know I have practically an entire Gillig fleet(1995's, 2004's, 2005's, 2006's, 2008's & 2011's) and most of them are with Voith transmissions. We have not experienced any trans cooler failures. I'm curious, are they rusting from the inside-out or from the outside-in?

I noticed there is alot of talk on here of Dukanne Radiatior so I figured I should also mention that they do alot of custom fabrication as well. They build us alot of brackets and tools for the MCI and Gilligs. They build everything better than the OEM and at a fraction of the cost. There shop is only 50 miles from here, I have met Tom and Christine quite a few times they are both very nice people and great to work with.

Steve,

We have not replaced any yet, however I do have a vendor that may be able to help you out with some better pricing:

Christine Hagemann
Vice President of Sales and Marketing

DUKANE RADIATOR, Inc.
DUKANE SHEETMETAL SOLUTIONS, Inc.
121 St. Clair Avenue
Clairton, Pennsylvania 15025

Phone: 412-233-3300
Fax: 412-233-3055
Toll Free: 866-466-0805

She's been able to help me out with a bunch of radiator parts and keeps asking about our trans coolers-- I know their pricing beats out Gillig big time and the quality is top-notch.

I am not sure exactly how the coolers are designed on a Gillig but we buy just the housing for our coolers, we have them crack once in awhile. We get them from Dukane Radiator, the housing we get are $265.00. Dukane Radiatoris is out around Pittsburgh. 866-466-0805. Ask for Tom Stoner. They also have a web site dukaneradiator.com.

We have 17 2005 and 5 2007 Gillig BRT models and have not replaced one at this time. I do not look forward to replacement parts when it runs through a group like that. Thanks for the ehads-up about Dukanne.

Figure on replaceing all of them we have 6 2007 Gilligs and we have replaced them all. The best price we found is from Dukanne Radiator 1-412-233-3300 we paid $1,075 and they are alot better built than the ones we got from Gillig.

Just curious how many trans coolers have rusted out on Gillig Phantoms. We have 8 2005 Phantoms and they are starting to be replaced. They are $1330 from Gillig and $1300 from Muncie. Is there anyplace else to buy these?

Steve
