RVT bids their fuel every year. We have been unable to get a fixed price from any of the vendors the last few years. Our price is from the OPIS index. We just received a delivery on 3/15/11 the price was $3.282770. |

We bid our fuel on a yearly basis effective April 1st. This enables us to have our fuel budget most of the fiscal year. We just opened the bids last evening, our new contract is for a fixed price at $3.25 up from $2.39. That is a 36% increase. |

How are all of you budgeting for fuel for this coming fiscal year? Historically, I have used an average of the past 36 months and adjusted for a 5-7% increase in cost-- however, I don't think that is going to cut it for our usage this year. For the 2010 fiscal year, I budgeted on the high end for up to $2.89/gal-- and I just hit that now. Any suggestions or alternatives for choosing the right amount? Thanks. |
